The modern world has so many distractions, from TV to cell phones, tablets and gaming systems the choices are endless. Parents have a tough time trying to get their kids to settle down and focus on their studies. With these simple and proven Vastu tips, you might just be able to help your children focus better.
  1. The study room should preferably be in the North or North-East section of your home.
  2. The study table should be placed in the East or North in the study room.

  3. Although you might think facing a blank wall will help to improve concentration, Vastu suggests otherwise. Try hanging up a few motivational posters on the wall, the paint colour should be light and tranquil. Facing a window is also not advisable as no direct beams should fall on the desk.
  4. Windows are best placed on the East, North or West walls. The door should be placed in the North-East, North, East or West.
  5. Make sure the room is well lit and if needed you can place a lamp on the South-East side of the study table.studying
  6. Avoid irregular shapes for the study table. Stick to the basics of square and rectangular. Ensure the table is made from good quality wood.
  7. If possible, don’t build a bathroom in the study room.
  8. See to it that there is a slight gap between the study table and the wall. This gap allows for new thought and ideas to be absorbed easily.
  9. Place a pyramid in the study room, this helps to balance energy and increase focus.

  • The Study room should be located in  east,  north  east or north of the House / Home. These directions are most auspicious and beneficial. It helps them  to concentrate better in their studies & improve education skills.
  •  The placement of the study table is important. You should place the study table facing East or North to ensure that while studying the child is facing either of these directions.  There should be open space in front of the child, which encourages fresh ideas and approach and breaks the monotony of lengthy study sessions.
  •  Avoid  study below the beam or the toilet of the house located on upper floor.
  • Children’s / Study room should be vibrant and cheerful. The use of colours like yellow, orange , green etc are highly recommended. Avoid using black & other dark colours in study rooms.
  • Books should be placed in the bookshelves rather than above the study table. It generates heavy pressure on student & also creates unnecessary stress.
  • Stationary should be in ready to use condition. Non working pens, unsharpened pencils, torn books etc. creates negative vibrations.
  • Students Study Table or Desk should be Clean and Clutter free.
  • The Light Should Be Bright in Children’s Rooms , so it should be easy on eyes.
  • Adequate amount natural light and  air is a must in Study Room. While studying the shadow of the child should not fall on the study table.
  • Pillars, Columns, sharp pointed edges of furniture and, also open shelves act as obstructions and distracts concentration, make sure to curve the edges.
  • Never Face Toilet or Back of Toilet while studying.
  • The Study Table should be Square or Rectangle in Shape
  • Never Place Shoes under your study Table.

  • Increase concentration

    • Children’s Should Practice Yoga in Early Morning to Increase their Concentration
    • Student should sleep with his/her head towards the east.

    Energizing and enhancing study zone

    • Use of Saraswati Yantra on study table or near bed side. It is helpful  for blessing from goddess sawaswati.
    • Use of Pictures and Paintings should be used carefully in the study room. Galloping horse, a rising Sun, Running car etc. can be displayed in the children room. Such pictures works as a energy or booster for better performance in studies. Puzzles, pictures of sad mood, pictures of war etc. should be avoided in this room.
    • Even Photo or statue of Goddess Saraswati is helpful to student. Student should take blessings daily.
    • Sports & Study Certificates & Trophy won by Child should be on South Wall.


  • e study room and the study table should be kept clutter-free at all times.
